FACTS ABOUT THE RATE CHANGE

For May billing, Boone REMC members will see a rate adjustment applied to their April usage. The customer charge and the energy delivery rate have increased.

· The customer service charge will increase from $34.20 to $43.66.

· The energy delivery rate for Boone REMC will increase from $0.03486 to $0.03500.

• The wholesale energy rate has increased from $0.077950/kWh to $0.081279/kWh.

• For an average 1,500 kWh bill, this adds roughly $15 (a 7 percent increase).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

April is considered a shoulder month in the electric industry. This means that the temperatures in April are not as extreme as they are in Feb. or July. 

In general, costs are increasing: infrastructure, materials, labor, transportation, A&G, financing, insurance, taxes, etc.

Power production and delivery expenses have increased and are projected to continue to do so.
