Sense Energy Monitors

Boone REMC owns several Sense home energy monitors that can help our members better understand how they are consuming electricity and how they can conserve.
What are Sense monitors?
A Sense monitor is a device installed on a home’s electrical panel that detects and records energy use in real time.
The monitor uses sensors that read the electrical current over 1 million times each second. Machine learning technology uses that data to determine what devices are on and off.
How does Boone REMC’s program work?
Boone REMC offers members three months of using the device at their location for no charge. Interested members can set up a 90-minute appointment to have a Boone REMC energy advisor install the monitor. After three months of using the device, an energy advisor will review the data with the member to help them learn how to make their homes more energy efficient.
What are the terms of the usage agreement?
Members who wish to have a Sense monitor installed must have Wi-Fi and be able to provide the Wi-Fi password at the time of the monitor installation appointment. The member also must have a smartphone to set up the device using Bluetooth and download the Sense app.
If a member desires to keep using the monitor after three months, the account will be billed $25 per month. If, after six months, you’d like to continue using the Sense monitor, it can be purchased for an additional $300.
