Boone REMC sells service entrance surge protection equipment. This equipment is designed to protect your hard-wired appliances from damaging transient voltage surges. This equipment is only available for sale to current Boone REMC customers.
Boone REMC sells meter socket adapter surge protection devices for services up to 400 amps. These units are priced at $140.
Appliances that are wired out of a sub-feed panel will require an individual suppressor.
Before the equipment is installed, our technicians must check your household grounding to establish that the grounding system registers 25 ohms or less.
According to the National Electric Code, 25 ohms is the maximum ohms reading for a ground rod. Proper grounding is necessary for the equipment to work properly. If the grounding system does not register 25 ohms or less, it will be the responsibility of the customer to correct the problem.
The warranty is in effect if the surge protection equipment fails, and passes on transient voltage to hard-wired equipment. This does not cover loose neutrals or other wiring problems. Equipment failure is indicated by the loss of a light display on the unit, at which time a claim may be filed. Warranties are provided by the manufacturer not Boone REMC.
